The modern condition of the tree ornamental nursery of Ukraine is characterized, the volumes of production of planting material are analyzed and the changes in the areas allocated for ornamental nursery farming for 2008-2012 are analyzed. Based on the data on the change in areas and production volumes, the characteristic features of enterprises were investigated and the prospects for their further development in the light activity of nurseries of the advanced countries of the European Union. This stage of the formation of the national nursery is distinguished by the fact that over the last 9 years the area of communal nurseries has decreased 2 times and the area of private nurseries has doubled. At the same time, its main achievements are mastering of the newest technologies of growing of planting material, wider use of modern fertilizers, specialized substrates and the like. The most important tasks are to expand the assortment of cultivated crops, improve the quality of products and increase the proportion of planting material with a closed root system in total production. The main problems of growing decorative planting material are insufficient attention to the development of nursery farming by the state and the absence of a civilized transparent market for its products. At the same time, decorative nursery farming in Ukraine has significant potential opportunities, as evidenced by the current trends in the development of its private sector.The characterized basis nurseries of Ukraine, presentation volumes and special production decorative planting materail.
