The article presents an analysis of scientific research about durability of linden trees in the formerSoviet Unionand in the world. The author presents his own observations on research of linden trees aged over one hundred years inKiev,  Bila Tcerkva and other cities ofUkraine. Were analyzed a number of factors that influence the life expectancy of  linden trees. Elucidated the conservation of linden plants  and presented a list of protected linden trees inUkraine. The author proposed a list of linden trees required to be included in the list of protected trees and the conclusions reached regarding the use of linden trees in urban plantings and park landscape compositions.
